Extensive Shrubbery to Complement Surrounding Landscape

The brief for this project was to build a large shrubbery joining the house and the extensive garden beyond it.

A solid evergreen structure of yew domes was planted and surrounded with soft perennial plants and beautiful roses. A small silver birch was placed to one side to add interest and Japanese anemones planted to encircle it, picking up the colours in the white bark of the tree. A small path was built to lead through the border to allow access for weeding and pruning.

Design Highlights

  • Evergreen yew domes for year round structure and interest

  • Successional planting to soften the formal, permanent structure and blend with the extensive grounds beyond the large shrubbery

  • A small silver birch tree surrounded with white and pink Japanese anemones was added to give height and autumnal attraction. The white bark and the anemones complement each other
